Replied to Open Letter to Zachary Grin, DPT · 31 Aug 2026

Someone made me aware that you posted this “Open Letter” to me. I do not visit this site, as I previously explained when you incorrectly attempted to attribute various comments here to me. This will be my only response, and its sole purpose is to set the record straight on several points.

I believe you know exactly what you are doing here. Your inflammatory behavior escalated, and you are now portraying yourself as the victim to deflect attention from your own conduct.

A reasonable person with average visual acuity could clearly see that the character in your memes was based on me. Many people who neither follow nor support your cause agreed that you used my likeness. The character had my exact hairline, facial hair, and facial features, although the face was slightly distorted. The resemblance was not ambiguous. Context also matters. The conversations depicted in the memes included topics I had recently discussed on social media. Around the time you posted them, you were repeatedly mentioning or referencing me to others on your X account. When someone commented, “Similarities to real persons are purely coincidental,” you replied with “🤣🤣🤣” (see attached). That response indicates that you knew the character resembled a specific person. So please stop the actual gaslighting. You know what you did, so own it.

You did state as a fact that it was “quite concerning that a possible life-threatening condition will not even be considered in his practice, that is the dangerous part” (see attached). I am not sure why you are now claiming that you never said this. You also falsely stated I was telling people on X to ignore dental problems. All of that is completely false, and I have said absolutely nothing to suggest otherwise. I provide a comprehensive two-hour initial evaluation in which I assess all aspects of a person’s health. I always refer patients to other providers when I suspect primary or secondary conditions that are undiagnosed or outside my scope of practice. Emergencies are rare, but I have sent patients for emergency care when they presented with unrelated conditions requiring it. This applies to every patient I evaluate, not only people with FND.

My practice is none of your concern. You criticize people for making judgments on the internet based on limited information, yet that is exactly what you are doing here. You know nothing about my practice, knowledge, education, or training.

Your statement about my role in the diagnostic process is also odd. I play an active role in that process for many patients. My education and training placed substantial emphasis on differential diagnosis from both medical and physical therapy perspectives. Some patients come to me with an FND diagnosis, and it is my responsibility to confirm that the diagnosis is clinically appropriate before treating them. On rare occasions, I have evaluated someone who was referred with an FND diagnosis and sent that person back for further investigation because I did not agree that they had FND. My concerns were subsequently proven correct. I also evaluate people who do not yet have a diagnosis and help connect them with a neurologist who can conduct the appropriate workup. I participate in grand rounds and case discussions with physicians. I teach hospital departments about FND diagnosis and treatment. I have also performed medicolegal work specifically involving an FND diagnosis disputed by the defense (they lost). Your assumption that I don’t seem to grasp the diagnostic process is simply wrong. You are just digging yourself into a deeper hole with these unsupported assumptions.

I also want to address the issue of skepticism, which you have repeatedly mentioned. No one, including me, has a problem with skepticism. I address skepticism every day, both online and in the clinic. What you are doing goes far beyond skepticism. You then gaslight us by claiming that we simply cannot tolerate skepticism and are therefore the problem. You have repeatedly made inflammatory remarks on X and on your website. When you first began this project, I attempted to engage with you on X by sharing evidence-based information reflecting the latest science and current standards of care. You did not engage in good faith, which led me to block you. You then blocked me as well. Even after I blocked you, you regularly took screenshots of my posts and reposted them on your X account, often distorting their meaning to make it appear that I had said something I had not. I have attached one example in which you implied that I tell patients they can simply “think” their energy levels better. That is also completely false. You are not engaging in good-faith skepticism, regardless of how many times you characterize your behavior that way.

I have nothing to do with this “anonymous neurologist” or the threatening email you allegedly received. I say “allegedly” because you have provided no proof. I also do not see how such an email would have anything to do with my calling you out for using my likeness in memes. That does not pass the smell test. I could, however, understand someone reacting strongly to your incredibly insensitive post that used a disabled person to create an FND meme. I have received several vile and threatening emails in the past, which I have posted online, and I find that behavior completely unacceptable and never justified. I hope you report the message and that the sender is identified, because it certainly was not me. Just to be clear, I won’t tolerate any speculation that it was or could have been me.

Regarding your wife, I am entitled to have an opinion. You put her extensive medical workup on the internet, which I saw when your site only focused on her extensive data. You did tell the person to whom I was responding that she has MS, which is why I made the statement shown in that screenshot. You have also told others that she has MS (see attached). Whether you do not remember saying it or denied it without realizing that I had proof, the record is clear now. You have now denied making several statements that you demonstrably did make.

Finally, I want you to understand that I do not believe what you are doing will provide any tangible benefit to patients or clinicians. The risks of misdiagnosis and the importance of ensuring an appropriate workup are serious issues that are regularly discussed in the field and published in the literature. There are people who meaningfully engage in these topics in a professional manner working towards the goal of better patient care for all. You have continuously pushed an inflammatory, inaccurate narrative that this field is basically a religious cult. It’s unserious and acts directly against the stated goals of your website. No one in this field will take you seriously with this type of behavior.

There is no reason for you to respond to this, so please do not. We are done here. However, you will hear from me again if you distort the truth about me, my practice, or your own behavior in this matter. Take care.
