Keyboard move entry & board description

THE GRAND ROUND

Choose your opposition.

Choose who makes the opening move. White always moves first.

Settings

Voice uses optional browser speech. Sound starts after interaction. Undo permanently disables competitive trophy eligibility for that match. Seven difficulty levels; playing strength is not Elo-rated.

How to play

You are the Evidence Rebellion. Choose to start as White or let the computer start and play Black. Select a clinician to highlight legal moves. Protect your king and checkmate the establishment. All ordinary chess moves apply, including castling, en passant and promotion.

Threefold repetition and fifty moves without a pawn move or capture permit a draw claim. Use Claim draw, or enter an intended move in the keyboard field before claiming. Fivefold repetition and seventy-five moves are automatic draws. The computer claims an available draw on its turn. Checkmate takes precedence.

Each clinician’s collar and equipment indicate their role: resident (pawn), pathologist (rook), hammer-wielding neurologist (knight), textbook specialist (bishop), researcher or stamp specialist (queen), senior physician (king). Hover or select to read a clinician’s name.

This satire targets institutional arrogance and diagnostic certainty. All characters are fictional.
