GABAergic neurons critically regulate epileptic seizures, yet circuit mechanisms mediated by subtype-specific GABAergic neurons in the zona incerta (ZI) remain unclear. Here we reveal the essential role of ZI somatostatin^(+) GABAergic neurons in seizure modulation in the mouse hippocampal kindling model.
