CONCLUSIONS: Age-standardized DALY, YLL, and YLD rates for GBD idiopathic epilepsy declined on average across 43 European countries from 1990 to 2023. This overall improvement masked major national differences, particularly in burden from premature mortality. Country-specific monitoring remains important because the European average does not describe all national trajectories.
