The FND quacks think that bringing a list of written notes to your appointment is near-certain proof that you have a psychosomatic disorder

11Hello Christoff,
Thanks for making this website.
I want to link this very relevant TED talk by Jennifer Brea
Jennifer had myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME). At first she didnt know what she had, and was going from doctor to doctor trying to figure out what she had. She came across a neurologist who told her that she had Conversion Disorder (FND). Jennifer believed that, and because of that did not correctly manage her ME symptoms. As a result her condition became so bad that she became bedbound for the next two years.
As you say another reason why a FND/psychosomatic diagnosis can be dangerous is that it will make people with a physical disease stop managing it correct, and their health could suffer as a result. Imagine if you told someone with diabetes that they actually had a psychosomatic disorder. Told them that their blood sugar is fine, they can eat whatever they want and can throw away all their insulin injection equipment. That person could very soon get diabetic shock, and die.
